Fran Brown is President of the Alan T Brown Foundation, located in New York City. The organization was established in 1988 when Fran’s son, Alan, then 20, suffered a spinal cord injury that left him paralyzed from the chest down. At the beginning the Foundation directed its support to finding a cure for paralysis. Recently, the Outreach and Peer Mentoring Program has become core to the Foundation’s mission and serves as a vital resource to the spinal cord community. Fran is proud that ATBF has impacted and guided families in crossing obstacles and re-entering society after paralysis has turned lives upside down. Fran serves on the Spinal Cord Injury Advisory Board of Kessler Medical Rehabilitation and Education Corporation and the Mount Sinai Spinal Cord Injury Model System Community Advisory Committee.
