THOSE WHO CONTRIBUTED TO BRIAN'S CAMPAIGN TO HELP PURCHASE A WHEELCHAIR- ACCESSIBLE VAN! |
|
GOAL: $55,000 FUNDS RAISED: $28,705.00 |
Brian
is a husband, father, son, brother, grandson,
nephew, cousin and friend. He is also, at
the age of 27, Brian, the paraplegic. On
October 17, 2007, while on the job, the
roof Brian was working on collapsed and
he fell thirty feet to a concrete floor.
Luckily the fall didn't kill him but it
did cause massive damage to his body.In a split second Brian's life changed. Broken bones, torn ligaments and a damaged spine that caused paralysis from the waist down left Brian a paraplegic. Now paralyzed physically, Brian is also trying to cope emotionally with the challenges and barriers imposed upon him by his physical limitations.
And so now the focus turns from the Whys to Hows: How to function in the everyday world, how to get from one place to another, how to still be Brian. Brian needs new modes of transportation, a specially equipped and designed van as well as a power wheelchair, which his insurance company has denied. Pushing the manual wheelchair for the past 3 years has destroyed his shoulders. These two items will allow him some independence and, hopefully, a return to the workplace.
In addition to having the support of family and friends, Brian also has the support and assistance of the Alan T Brown Foundation to Cure Paralysis.
And now we need YOU!
Please donate and make a difference in Brians life. Your gift whatever the size- will help towards the goal of purchasing a handicapped van and power wheelchair.
For Brian- the knowledge that he has your support, friendship and prayers is a positive factor in helping Brian become Brian again.
