Mr. Robin Smith
President & Founder, Miami Physical Therapy Associates
The founder and driving force behind Miami Physical
Therapy Associates, Inc., Robin Smith Graduated from
the University of Maryland in 1973. With more than 30
years of clinical experience in the area of spinal cord
injury rehabilitation, Robin is the reason that paralyzed
individuals from all around the world, including members
of the ATBF Outreach Program, travel to Miami to receive
his professional advice. Robin's expertise in wheelchair
seating and assessment, and lower extremity bracing
and orthotics, along with his aggressive techniques
and positive attitude has impacted many lives.
Robin's involvement with research
projects and publications in the spinal cord injury
realm have been performed in conjunction with the National
Institute of Health, the Miami Project to Cure Paralysis,
the National Academy of Sciences and the University
of Miami, School of Music. He has lectured at the American
Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons and the University of
Miami, School of Medicine.
A member of the American Physical
Therapy Association (APTA) since 1973, a featured "Innovator"
for Physical Therapy Provider Network (PTPN) and the
recipient of the "Clinical Instructor of the Year"
by the Miller School of Medicine's Department of Physical
Therapy at the University of Miami---the Alan T Brown
Foundation is proud to present Robin with the 2009 Standing
Tall Award.
Robin lives in Miami, Florida with
his wife, Claudia, and his daughter, Alexandra.
